A popular Irish artist, illustrator and children’s author; Oliver Jeffers is best known for his children’s books. Jeffers grew up in Belfast, Northern Ireland but now chooses to work out of his home in Brooklyn, New York. He studied at the integrated secondary school Hazelwood College, then graduated from the University of Ulster in 2001 soon after which, he shot to fame for his art works, illustrations and writing prowess.

Today an award-winning children’s author; Oliver Jeffers, is widely popular for his picture books for children and has been published by the world’s top-notch publishers—like HarperCollins UK and Penguin US. His picture books, including The Incredible Book Eating Boy (2006), The Day Crayons Quit (2013) and its sequel The Day The Crayons Came Home (2015, both #1 NYTimes Best Sellers)—have been translated in over 30 languages; German, Spanish and French among others.

From figurative paintings and installations to illustrations and picture-book making, Oliver Jeffers’ creativity takes many forms. Whilst his paintings are on display across the best art galleries in the world, Jeffers' style of illustration uses mixed media and is recognised for its subtle narrative and use of space in composition. Working in collaboration with Studio AKA, Oliver’s second book Lost and Found (2005) was developed into an animated short film that has received over sixty awards, including a BAFTA for Best Animated Short Film.

Obviously then, Oliver Jeffers’ children’s books and arts are just the kind of creativity you want to expose your child to. In this collection therefore, we have curated a list of Oliver books that we think ought to be on your child’s bookshelf.

Here We Are : Notes for Living on Planet Earth for children aged 6 and up is an exquisite and thought-provoking Oliver Jeffers book set. Our planet, earth and this world can be a bewildering place, especially for those that have only just got here. Your child’s head will most likely be filled with questions, so allow them to explore what makes our planet and how we live on it. From land and sky, to people and time, these notes can be your child’s guide. With these books, you can get your child started on their journey to getting to know the world. Some things about our planet are pretty complicated, but things can be simple, too: you've just got to be kind. Here We Are is that utterly heartfelt book which will simplify the world for younglings.

Book of Opposites by Oliver Jeffers for children aged 6 and up is a spectacular concept board book from Oliver Jeffers, based on his million-copy selling, award-winning global picture-book phenomenon Here We Are! This book of opposites is a fun introduction to opposites (as the name suggests) for your babies and toddlers. Explaining the concept of opposites to babies and toddlers can be tricky. Near and Far. Heavy and Light. All opposites and all a bit dull. The Hueys are a bunch of characters in the book who like to learn, but also like a bit of anarchic fun. A cat may be stuck UP a tree, but you can chop it DOWN to help. The Hueys mix the basic idea of opposites and throw in a few curve balls that make the experience more exciting. Get your little one the Here We Are book set and give them a fun way to get to the planet they inhabit.
