The Enemy Series by Charlie Higson is a thrilling and gripping collection of novels that will keep readers on the edge of their seats. Set in post-apocalyptic London, the series follows a group of children and teenagers who have survived a mysterious virus that has killed all the adults, leaving them to fend for themselves in a world overrun by zombies.
The first book in the series, The Enemy, introduces us to the central characters, including Callum, a resourceful and determined boy, and Jester, a charismatic leader who is fiercely protective of his group of children. As the children struggle to survive in a world filled with danger, they are constantly on the lookout for the "grown-ups," the infected adults who have been turned into violent, zombie-like creatures.
As the series progresses, the children face a variety of challenges, including rival groups of survivors, dangerous predators, and the ever-present threat of the "grown-ups." The characters are well-developed and relatable, and readers will find themselves rooting for them as they fight to stay alive and protect each other.
