Where's Wally? 

Where's Wally is an iconic British character that has been around for generations. The character began in puzzle books and has spread into an animated TV series, a comic strip, video games and real-life Where's Wally World Record attempts. 

History of Where's Wally 

Where's Wally is a children's puzzle book by the British illustrator Martin Handford. The first volume was published 21st September 1987 by Walker Books. The books became an instant success, with the books being printed around the world. In America, the series is called Where's Waldo, and many other name changes were made worldwide to suit their audiences better. For example, in Germany, Wally is called Walter, in France, he is called Charlie, and in Denmark, he is called Holger.

The books themselves feature twelve detailed 2-page illustrated spreads of different everyday locations like the zoo, the beach and the park. Wally is identified by his red-and-white-striped shirt, bobble hat, and glasses, but many illustrations contain red herrings involving the deceptive use of red-and-white striped objects. As the books progress, it becomes harder and harder to locate Wally, making the puzzles more challenging and lasting longer.
