Description:

David Balfour
"A GOOD CONSCIENCE IS EIGHT PARTS OF COURAGE."

David Balfour is a fictional character set in Scotland in the 1700s.

Robert Louis Stevenson's book, David Balfour, is the follow-up to Kidnapped. There are two parts to the book. David makes an effort to bring James Stewart (James of the Glens), who has been detained and accused of involvement in the Appin Murder, to justice in the first section.

After making his case to a lawyer, David meets with the Lord Advocate to continue pursuing James innocence. After failing in his attempts to persuade the Lord, he is abducted and taken to Bass Rock, an island in the Firth of Forth, once more. James is found guilty at that point and given the death penalty. David gets to know Catriona MacGregor Drummond, the daughter of James MacGregor Drummond, popularly known as James More, while he is incarcerated, and the two fall in love.

This book enthralls audiences as a tale of love, intrigue and adventure.

The Master of Ballantrae

"IT IS ONE OF THE WORST THINGS OF SENTIMENT THAT THE VOICE GROWS TO BE MORE IMPORTANT THAN THE WORDS, AND THE SPEAKER THAN THAT WHAT IS SPOKEN."

The Master of Ballantrae by the Scottish author Robert Louis Stevenson centres on the struggle between two brothers, noblemen from Scotland, whose family is shattered by the 1745 Jacobite uprising.

The book is a captivating and spine-chilling depiction of evil in 19th-century literature. It is set in different locations, including Scotland during the Jacobite rebellion, the French Indies, and the North American wilderness. The Master characterizes the corrupting influence he has on those he employs and how they experience his wickedness and charm. His younger brother Henry, Henry's wife Alison, and others are all affected by him in some way.

Stevenson's examination of moral ambiguity is further illustrated in this novel, just like in Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.

The Black Arrow
"WELL! MARRIAGE IS LIKE DEATH, IT COMES TO ALL."

The Black Arrow is a historical adventure as well as a romance novel by Robert Louis Stevenson.

The Black Arrow, a daring portrayal of a young man's quest to uncover his inner heroism, was first serialised in a boys' adventure fiction magazine. Amidst England's War of the Roses, Dick Shelton, a young man, finds himself divided in allegiance between The Black Arrow, the leader of a covert organisation, and his guardian who will eventually turn against him. With England's throne threatening to collapse around him, Shelton must decide who is his friend and enemy as he delves deeper into this conspiracy and faces challenges including war, shipwrecks, retaliation, murder, and forbidden love.

Rich in romance, suspense, and adventure, this gripping story paints a timeless picture of England during one of its most turbulent periods as Dick is torn between his allegiances to the houses of York and Lancaster, He has to make a decision that will determine both his future and the future of England.

Kidnapped
"THERE ARE TWO THINGS THAT MEN SHOULD NEVER WEARY OF, GOODNESS AND HUMILITY; WE GET NONE TOO MUCH OF THEM IN THIS ROUGH WORLD AMONG COLD, PROUD PEOPLE."

Kidnapped is a historical fiction adventure novel by Robert Louis Stevenson and first published in 1886.

This was originally written as a boys book and published in the magazine Young Folks from May to July 1886.

The story, which takes place in Scotland in 1751, revolves around the bold actions of 17-year-old David Balfour, who is abducted by his evil uncle in order to steal his inheritance. This fight takes place in the context of a wider conflict between the Whig Lowlanders and the Jacobite Highlanders of Scotland.

This book enthralls audiences as a tale of adventure, courage and speculation.

The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde
"IF I AM THE CHIEF OF SINNERS, I AM THE CHIEF OF SUFFERERS ALSO."

The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson lets the reader explore the dark side of human nature. This compelling novella offers a frightening and thought-provoking read as it examines the duality of man and the effects of unbridled desire.

The chilling story of a split personality and its disastrous outcomes reveal the internal conflict between good and evil in human psychology. An insightful analysis of morality, identity, and the risks is associated with repressing one's impulses, enduring figures, such as the mysterious Dr. Jekyll and the menacing Mr. Hyde. This is a timeless masterpiece that never fails to enthral readers and make them wonder about the limits of their own humanity.

From the deepest corners of his own unconscious, Robert Louis Stevenson penned his masterwork on the duality of good and evil in human nature. His timeless masterpiece exhibits an extraordinary comprehension of the inner conflicts within the personality and continues to be the utterly horrifying material of our darkest dreams.

Prince Otto
"THE WOMAN WHO CAN MANAGE, LIKE THE MAN WHO CAN FIGHT, MUST NEVER SHRINK FROM AN ENCOUNTER. THE KNIGHT MUST NOT DISGRACE HIS WEAPONS."

Prince Otto is a historical novel by Robert Louis Stevenson. It was first published in 1885.

Prince Otto and his spouse have become distant due to their royal duties and way of life. Otto and Serafina undergo transformations and their outer layers of personas are exposed as they become entangled in a web of intrigue and conspiracies within the palace.

Prince Otto was dubbed 'my hardest effort' by Stevenson, who also rewrote one of the chapters eight times, and his wife once.

In order to figure out what matters to him, the young dilettante in this book must overcome a number of obstacles that threaten his kingdom, his marriage, and his own life, In the end, he discovers the importance of maturing.

This novel is full of drama, romance, and exquisitely rendered characters, This is the only romantic fiction work by the author which took eight years to complete and is regarded as a masterpiece.

Treasure Island
"SIR, WITH NO INTENTION TO TAKE OFFENGE, I DENY YOUR RIGHT TO PUT WORDS INTO MY MOUTH."

Treasure Island, published in 1883, is regarded as one of Robert Louis Stevenson's most well-known and outstanding creations.

In this adventure book, a little boy named Jim Hawkins embarks on a perilous quest to find hidden treasure. Along the way, he comes across mutinous pirates, stranded castaways, terrifying ghost stories, and much more.

It's a coming-of-age story about buccaneers and buried gold', where the protagonist experiences treasure hunting for the first time before deciding it's not for him, The meaning of friendship and doing the right thing are some of the topics covered in the novel especially in light of Long John Silver's persona, It is mostly to blame for the media's widespread coverage of pirates in the years that followed.

Treasure Island enthralls audiences as a tale of adventure, camaraderie, and redemption.
