Books2Door Presents: The Trio of Timeless Tales Collection

Discover the profound depths of human emotion, history, and the resilience of the human spirit with the Maggie O'Farrell & Bonnie Garmus 3 Books Collection Set, available exclusively at Books2Door. This collection harmoniously converges the brilliance of two outstanding authors - Maggie O'Farrell and Bonnie Garmus - into a series that speaks of love, loss, perseverance, and evolution.

Titles in this set:

  1.  Hamnet (Maggie O'Farrell)
  2. The Marriage Portrait (Maggie O'Farrell)
  3. Lessons in Chemistry (Bonnie Garmus)
  • Hamnet (Maggie O'Farrell):

In the Elizabethan ambience of the 1580s, Maggie O'Farrell’s Hamnet is a stirring tale inspired by the tragic life of William Shakespeare’s son, who passed away at the tender age of 11. Through her evocative prose, O'Farrell gives life to a world where the bard's presence lingers in shadows, though his name is unspoken. The novel tenderly reveals the indomitable bond between Hamnet and his twin sister, Judith. Beyond the straightforward narrative of loss, it dives deep into the heart of a mother's love and grief, painting a poignant picture of family, tragedy, and the inspiration behind one of Shakespeare's most celebrated plays, Hamlet.

    • The Marriage Portrait (Maggie O'Farrell):

With The Marriage Portrait, O'Farrell takes readers on a captivating expedition through time, chronicling the rich tapestry of a couple's life together. The novel delves into the delicate layers of marriage, meticulously peeling back the veils of passion, commitment, trials, and enduring love. Each chapter unfurls secrets, promises, and the intricate dance of love and compromise. As readers traverse the decades, they witness love's ability to adapt and grow in the face of life's myriad challenges. It's an intimate portrayal of relationships, revealing the countless hues of affection and the choices we make in its name.

      • Lessons in Chemistry (Bonnie Garmus):

Bonnie Garmus' Lessons in Chemistry introduces us to the world of Elizabeth Zott, an adept chemist battling the stifling norms of a patriarchal society. The 1960s American setting provides the backdrop for a narrative where science and societal expectations clash and meld in unexpected ways. When circumstances usher Elizabeth into the limelight of a popular cooking show, she wields this newfound platform as more than just a culinary stage. Injecting her scientific prowess and challenging conventional norms, Elizabeth becomes an icon of change. Garmus beautifully marries wit with wisdom, offering readers a tale where humour and profundity walk hand in hand.

The Maggie O'Farrell & Bonnie Garmus 3 Books Collection Set, available now at Books2Door, is more than just an assembly of books; it's a journey. Spanning varied eras, from the Elizabethan epoch to the transformative 1960s, this collection captures the essence of the times and the timeless nature of human emotions. Each title is a testament to the writers' prowess and their ability to touch the human soul. Dive deep into narratives that promise to linger in your thoughts long after the last page is turned. Embrace the magic, the history, and the raw human spirit with this unmatched collection.

        Description from the Publisher:

        Hamnet
TWO EXTRAORDINARY PEOPLE. A LOVE THAT DRAWS THEM TOGETHER. A LOSS THAT THREATENS TO TEAR THEM APART.

On a summer’s day in 1596, a young girl in Stratford-upon-Avon takes to her bed with a sudden fever. Her twin brother, Hamnet, searches everywhere for help. Why is nobody at home?

Their mother, Agnes, is over a mile away, in the garden where she grows medicinal herbs. Their father is working in London.

Neither parent knows that Hamnet will not survive the week.

Hamnet is a novel inspired by the son of a famous playwright: a boy whose life has been all but forgotten but whose name was given to one of the most celebrated plays ever written.

        The Marriage Portrait
Winter, 1561. Lucrezia, Duchess of Ferrara, is taken on an unexpected visit to a country villa by her husband, Alfonso. As they sit down to dinner, it occurs to Lucrezia that Alfonso has a sinister purpose in bringing her here. He intends to kill her.

Lucrezia is sixteen years old and has led a sheltered life locked away inside Florence’s grandest palazzo. Here, in this remote villa, she is entirely at the mercy of her increasingly erratic husband.

What is Lucrezia to do with this sudden knowledge? What chance does she have against Alfonso, ruler of a province and a trained soldier? How can she ensure her survival?

The Marriage Portrait is an unforgettable reimagining of the life of a young woman whose proximity to power places her in mortal danger.

        Lessons in Chemistry
Your ability to change everything - including yourself - starts here.

Chemist Elizabeth Zott is not your average woman. In fact, Elizabeth Zott would be the first to point out that there is no such thing.

But it's the early 1960s, and her all-male team at Hastings Research Institute take a very unscientific view of equality. Forced to resign, she reluctantly signs on as the host of a cooking show, Supper at Six. But her revolutionary approach to cooking, fuelled by scientific and rational commentary, grabs the attention of a nation.

Soon, a legion of overlooked housewives finds themselves daring to change the status quo. One molecule at a time.
