This collection has been curated to showcase the work of the bestselling author Kazuo Ishiguro. He’s one of the leading authors of literary fiction in the UK and appeals to both adult and young adult audiences. The central themes of his novels surround abstract concepts such as time, memory, loss and lifelong deception - particularly its unreliability in narratives. A lot of his work focuses on the manipulation of human desire and how human beings reinterpret their own world from which they are estranged. His work moves freely across genres, including fantasy, magical realism and SF.

Kazuo Ishiguro’s most notable works
If you’re not sure where to start, let us help to give you a few handy recommendations to get you going. Why not check out his latest dystopian science fiction work, Klara and the Sun? Published in 2021, the book is told from the viewpoint of the titular character, Klara, a solar-powered AF (Artificial Friend).
Klara has been chosen by Josie, a sickly child, to be her android companion and caretaker. Through the window of a store for which she is for sale, Klara learns about the world through outstanding observation qualities and watches the Sun, often referring to it as a physical entity. In the growing days, as Josie almost reaches the brink of death, she implores the Sun to heal and save her. Ishiguro presents an accurate insight into the human experience through the eyes of an unforgettable narrator to answer the fundamental question: what does it mean to love?
One of Ishiguro’s most popular books is Never Let Me Go. In a dystopian version of late 1990s England. The book follows Kathy’s perspective as she attempts to come to terms with her childhood and upbringing and towards a bleak fate that awaits her and her closest friends. Ishiguro masterfully presents the fragility of life, identity, empathy and friendship in this novel. Time named it the best novel of 2005 and one of the top 100 novels published since 1923. The book has also been adapted into the 2010 film of the same name, directed by Mark Romanek and starring Cary Milligan, Andrew Garfield and Keira Knightley.
