James Patterson Novels 

James Patterson is an American author who has produced some of the most well-known crime thrillers. After retiring from his career in advertising, Patterson's published his first book in 1976, The Thomas Berryman Number. This book introduced one of his most famous characters, Alex Cross. 

One of Patterson's most famous characters is a forensic psychologist formerly of Washington, DC. Metropolitan Police and the FBI, who now works as a private psychologist and government consultant. This character is Alex Cross. These books have been marked as one of the top-selling US detective series in the past ten years. NYPD Red is another great crime thriller series by Patterson. The series follows NYPD Red, a special task force enlisted with the role of protecting Manhattan's rich and famous. Patterson's Children's Novels 

As well as his bestselling crime fiction novels, James Patterson has also released children's and YA novels. Patterson's series Middle School follows sixth grader Rafe Khatchadorian as he contends with the stresses and emotions involved with starting middle school and becoming a teenager. Rafe is having trouble at home, so with help from his friend Leo, they invent Operation RAFE, which stands for rules that aren't for everyone, the pair plan to break as many school rules as possible and distract from Rafe's home life. The series has received critical praise and was adapted into a movie in 2016, with Griffin Gluck in the titular role. Middle School is aimed at ages 9-14 year-olds.
