The Magic Finger

Roald Dahl: The Magic Finger, a Level 4 Activity Book, is A2 in the CEFR framework and supports YLE Flyers exams. The activities encourage children to practice longer sentences with up to three clauses, more complex past and future tense structures, modal verbs and a wider variety of conjunctions.

The Magic Finger tells of an unnamed 8-year-old girl who tells the story of her neighbours, the Gregg family. The Gregg family like to hunt. The girl tried to talk them out of it, but they either laugh at her, or they ignore her completely. But what they don’t know is that the girl has a magic finger that activates whenever she gets angry.

After a terrible mishap with her teacher, the girl swore to never use her powers again. However, she has finally had enough of the Greggs’ mocking and gives in to temptation and uses it again to stop them from hunting by turning them all into ducks! Will she ever manage to persuade the Gregg family to change their ways?

The Enormous Crocodile

Roald Dahl: The Enormous Crocodile, a Level 3 Activity Book, is A1+ in the CEFR framework and supports YLE Movers exams. The activities encourage children to practice longer sentences with up to three clauses, some expression of future meaning, comparisons, contractions and relative clauses.

The Enormous Crocodile is a horridly beastly creature who loves to guzzle up little boys and girls and everyone in the jungle. By disguising himself in several situations, hoping to find some tasty children to eat, his plans are always foiled. Luckily for the children, all of the other animals in the jungle join forces to help stop The Enormous Crocodile from eating all the innocent children.

Esio Trot

Roald Dahl: Esio Trot Activity Book, a Level 4 Activity Book, is A2 in the CEFR framework and supports YLE Flyers exams. The activities encourage children to practice longer sentences with up to three clauses, more complex past and future tense structures, modal verbs and a wider variety of conjunctions.

Mr Hoppy is a very shy man. He lives alone in his apartment and tends to his plants on his balcony. But he has a big secret: he is secretly in love with his downstairs neighbour, Mrs Silver, who is devoted to her tortoise, Alfie. Alfie is too small and Mrs Silver desperately wished he would grow more. Mr Hoppy soon comes up with a genius plan to help Alfie and win the heart of Mrs Silver but will it work?

The Twits

The Twits, a Level 1 Reader, is Pre-A1 in the CEFR framework and includes practice for the Cambridge English Pre-A1 Starters tests. Short sentences contain a maximum of two clauses, using the present tense and some simple adjectives.

Mr and Mrs Twit are not nice people. They like to play nasty practical jokes on each other out of hatred. The Twits keep a family of pet monkeys, called the Muggle-Wumps, in an attempt to create the first upside-down monkey circus by making them stand on their heads for hours on end. The monkeys come up with a brilliant plan to glue the furniture to the ceiling to make the Twits think that they are upside down instead. But will their plan work to teach the terrible Twits a lesson?

The Giraffe and the Pelly and Me

Roald Dahl: The Giraffe and the Pelly and Me, a Level 3 Activity Book, is A1+ in the CEFR framework and supports YLE Movers exams. The activities encourage children to practice longer sentences with up to three clauses, some expression of future meaning, comparisons, contractions and relative clauses.

Billy is a young boy who has always dreamed of owning a sweet shop. But when the abandoned building near him is renovated into the head office for The Ladderless Window-Cleaning Company, Billy feels completely hopeless. Then he meets its members, a giraffe, with an extendable neck, a pelican, who has a flexible upper beak, and a singing and dancing monkey, all of whom he befriends. When the animals get asked to clean all 677 windows of the Hamshire House, they spot a burglar attempting to steal the Duchess’ Jewels. Can they manage to stop him in time?

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

Mr Willy Wonka, the eccentric owner of the greatest chocolate factory in the world, has decided to open the doors to his factory to five lucky children. So when Charlie Bucket discovers one of the famous Golden Tickets inside of his Wonka Bar, he is delighted to be one of the lucky five!

James and the Giant Peach

There is a giant peach in the tree. James Henry Trotter lives with his cruel aunts- Aunt Spike and Aunt Sponge. One day he meets a mysterious man who gives him a bag of magic crystals, telling James to use them in a potion that would change his life for the better. It turns a single tiny peach into the biggest peach in the world, growing to nearly the size of a house. James went inside the peach. What did he find?

Join James and his newfound group of seven magically-altered insect friends on their journey across the land inside of a giant peach, facing many obstacles in their way.
