For younger readers, Ellie and the Cat follows a rude and spoilt girl who is turned into a cat by her Grandma. Ellie must prove to her family that she has changed in order to be turned back into a human. This is aimed at ages 6-7 and contains clear text, which is broken up by illustrations.

This book is an essential read for all ages as it raises awareness of sickle-cell anaemia and the effect it can have on someone. 

Fans of Malorie Blackman's dystopian novels should check out her novella Robot Girl.
