About the Author:
Born on April 6, 1975, in Jerusalem, Israel, she grew up in Los Angeles, California. Bardugo attended Yale University, where she graduated with a degree in English. Before becoming a full-time writer, she worked in various fields, including journalism and advertising.
Bardugo made her debut in 2012 with Shadow and Bone, the first book in the Grisha trilogy. The series takes place in a fictional universe inspired by Tsarist Russia, where magic and science coexist. The story centers around Alina Starkov, a young orphan who discovers that she has a unique power that could be the key to setting her war-torn country free from a dark force known as the Shadow Fold. The trilogy also includes Siege and Storm and Ruin and Rising.
The Grishaverse made its way to the small screen with the Netflix adaptation of Shadow and Bone," which premiered in April 2021. The series blends elements from both the original trilogy and the Six of Crows duology, and it has been well-received by both fans and critics alike.
Apart from the Grishaverse, Bardugo has written Ninth House, her first adult fantasy novel, which delves into the world of secret societies at Yale University. She has also contributed to anthologies and has released a collection of short stories, The Language of Thorns, which adds more layers to the Grishaverse.
