Rivers of London
by Ben Aaronovitch is an engaging and thrilling series of urban fantasy graphic novels that will take you on a journey through the streets of London. This collection features books one to three, including Body Work, Night Witch, and Black Mould, offer a fascinating blend of magic, crime, and mystery, making them a must-read for anyone who loves the genre.

In Body Work, the first book in the series, we meet Peter Grant, a young police officer who is about to have his world turned upside down. After he witnesses a ghostly apparition at a crime scene, he is assigned to work with the enigmatic Detective Inspector Thomas Nightingale, who just happens to be a wizard. As Peter begins to learn more about the magical world that exists alongside his own, he finds himself drawn into a dangerous investigation that leads him to the heart of a sinister conspiracy.

Night Witch, the second book in the series, takes Peter Grant deeper into the world of magic and mystery. When a rash of violent crimes begins to occur in London's Russian community, Peter and Nightingale are called in to investigate the case of a Russian oligarch’s missing daughter. Their search for the truth leads them to a powerful and dangerous figure known as The Faceless Man, who seems to be at the centre of the chaos. As Peter delves deeper into the case, he discovers that there are more secrets in the city than he ever imagined.

In Black Mould, the third book in the series, Peter Grant is once again on the case. This time, he is investigating a series of bizarre deaths that seem to be linked to a mysterious and deadly mould possessed with dark power. As he digs deeper, he uncovers a plot that threatens not just London but the entire world. With the help of his magical mentor Nightingale, his fellow officers, and his own quick wit, Peter races against time to uncover the truth and stop the deadly plot from coming to fruition.

One of the things that make the Rivers of London series so compelling is the vivid and detailed world-building that author Ben Aaronovitch has created. From the bustling streets of London to the hidden magical realms that exist just beneath the surface, the series is full of rich and fascinating settings that will keep you captivated from beginning to end. The characters in the series are also a major highlight. Nightingale is a mysterious and enigmatic figure whose knowledge and power make him an invaluable ally to Peter. And the supporting cast, including Peter's fellow officers and the various magical beings he encounters, are all well-drawn and memorable.

Body Work

Peter Grant, having become the first English Apprentice wizard in fifty years, must immediately deal with two different but ultimately inter-related cases. In one, he must find what is possessing ordinary people and turning them into vicious killers and in the second, he must broker peace between the two warring gods of the River Thames.

Night Witch

Press-ganged into helping a Russian oligarch hunt his missing daughter, PC Peter Grant and his boss, Thomas Nightingale, London's only wizarding cops, find themselves caught up in a battle between Russian gunmen, a monstrous forest creature - and their nemesis: The Faceless Man. But as Grant and Nightingale close in on the missing girl, they discover that nothing about this case is what it seems!

Black Mould

About the Author:

Ben Aaronovitch is a British author, born in London in 1964. He is best known for his series of urban fantasy novels, Rivers of London, which follows the adventures of a young police officer named Peter Grant who becomes entangled in the magical underworld of London. Aaronovitch's diverse career has also included stints as a screenwriter, comic book writer, and journalist.

Aaronovitch grew up in north London and attended Holloway School before studying English at the University of Manchester. After completing his degree, he worked as a bookseller, a civil servant, and a script editor for the BBC. In 1988, he wrote his first Doctor Who novel, Remembrance of the Daleks, which was later adapted into a television episode. This led to more opportunities to write for television, including episodes of Casualty and Jupiter Moon.

In the early 2000s, Aaronovitch turned his attention to writing comic books. He worked on a number of titles for DC Comics, including The Books of Magic and Hellblazer. He also co-created the series Rivers of London with artist Lee Sullivan, which was originally published as a limited series by Titan Comics before being adapted into a novel.

Aaronovitch's first novel in the Rivers of London series was published in 2011. The book, titled Rivers of London in the UK and Midnight Riot in the US, introduced readers to Peter Grant and the world of magic that exists alongside the real world of London. The series has since expanded to include eight novels and several short stories, with each book building on the world and characters established in the previous instalments.

Despite his success as a writer, Aaronovitch has remained down-to-earth and accessible to his fans. He regularly attends book signings and conventions and is known for his engaging and entertaining public speaking. His work continues to captivate readers around the world, and he is considered one of the most exciting voices in urban fantasy today.
