National Online Book Retailer pledges 15,000 free books for Children on World Book Day

Press Release: 15,000 free books on World Book Day 2021

Books2Door has pledged to give 15,000 children’s books away for free home-delivered on World Book Day which will be held this year on 4th March 2021.

2021 marks the 24th anniversary of World Book Day, who offer free books to children, and give them an opportunity to access reading, regardless of their family circumstances, parents’ educational background or household income. The campaign promotes the lifelong benefits of reading for pleasure and sees millions of free books claimed by children thanks to National Book Tokens’ £1 vouchers.

However, due to lockdown restrictions still in force, the UK’s bookshops are remaining shut on one of their biggest days of trading, so there will be limited places for children to redeem their £1 book token.

Therefore, Books2Door are offering households the opportunity to claim their free book without a token and have it delivered to their home free of charge.

Abdul Thadha, Managing Director of Books2Door, said: “World Book Day is the day that we booksellers open our hearts and give children the gift of reading. This year, we want to make sure that at least 15,000 children do not miss out on their free book, so we’ll send it directly to their doorstep at absolutely no cost to them.”

Thadha added, “If you'd like your child to receive a £1 World Book Day Book for free, then you simply need to visit www.books2door.com, add the World Book Day title your child would like to your basket and enter the code WBD2021 at checkout. We at Books2door absolutely love to celebrate World Book Day, and we are offering free delivery for all of our books between 1-4 March 2021 as an additional incentive for parents and carers to expand their child’s imagination.”
